What to expect: the Shudh™ method at a glance

The shankh prakshalana process is continuous. It looks like this:

  • Fill up the pitcher with lukewarm water to the 32 oz mark and add a single salt packet.
  • Drink one or two 8-ounce glasses of the solution. Do upward stretch and side stretch.
  • Drink one or two 8-ounce glasses. Do twist stretch and push-up stretch.
  • Drink one or two 8-ounce glasses. Do squat stretch.
  • Repeat the cycle.

Each "set" of three to six glasses and five stretches takes about 30 minutes, and you repeat the process until the watery stool is clear with no solids.

You can expect to have your first bowel movement any time between 20 and 40 minutes. Most people are finished sometime during the third set, in about 100 minutes.
